Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport played between two teams of 11 players each. It is widely popular, especially in countries like India, England, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies.
The game is played on a circular or oval field, with a 22-yard pitch in the center. Each team takes turns to bat and bowl (field).
The batting team tries to score runs by hitting the ball and running between the wickets or hitting boundaries.
The bowling/fielding team tries to dismiss the batters and limit the runs.
Wicket: Either the set of stumps or the act of getting a batter out.
Over: A set of 6 legal balls bowled by one bowler.
Run: The basic unit of scoring.
Innings: One team's turn to bat.
There are three main international formats:
Test Cricket (5 days, unlimited overs, two innings per team)
One Day Internationals (ODIs) (50 overs per team)
Twenty20 (T20) (20 overs per team)
The team with the most runs at the end of the match wins.
In Test cricket, a draw is possible if time runs out before a result.
