WHAT IS CRICKET ?
Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport played between two teams of 11 players each. It is widely popular, especially in countries like India, England, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa , and the West Indies . Basic Concept The game is played on a circular or oval field , with a 22-yard pitch in the center. Each team takes turns to bat and bowl (field) . The batting team tries to score runs by hitting the ball and running between the wickets or hitting boundaries. The bowling/fielding team tries to dismiss the batters and limit the runs. Key Terms Wicket : Either the set of stumps or the act of getting a batter out. Over : A set of 6 legal balls bowled by one bowler. Run : The basic unit of scoring. Innings : One team's turn to bat.
